About Your Doula

Hi, i’m Chanel! I am a Perinatal Support Professional (Doula, Lactation, Childbirth Educator), Maternal and Child Health Professional, Black Birth and Reproductive Justice Advocate, and Mother.

Chanel is a dedicated community advocate and a beacon in the realm of perinatal support, embodying multiple roles with unwavering commitment. As a seasoned Perinatal Support Professional, she offers a holistic approach to birthwork, alongside being a childbirth and lactation educator, trainer, mentor, coach, and a staunch advocate for birthworkers. Her work extends beyond the personal to address systemic issues as a fervent Black Birth and Reproductive Justice Advocate and a Maternal and Child Health Professional.

From a young age, Chanel felt a deep calling to maternal work, driven by an innate compassion and a strong desire to advocate for change. Her efforts in community organizing, grassroots movements, and programmatic initiatives have always been aimed at dismantling maternal and infant health disparities and championing systemic reforms for marginalized communities. Chanel's commitment to enhancing the perinatal workforce is evident in her advocacy for fair compensation and her dedication to empowering Black families with the necessary resources for success.

Nationally recognized for her contributions, Chanel has trained and mentored countless birthworkers and maternal child health professionals, significantly impacted policies for doula insurance reimbursement in Georgia, and crafted culturally responsive educational curriculums. Her influential work has been highlighted in major publications and broadcasts such as CBS, Atlanta Journal Constitution, and Georgia Public Broadcasting, underscoring her pivotal role in advancing Black Maternal Health, Perinatal Support, and advocacy.

As a first-generation Liberian-American, Chanel is deeply committed to harnessing her ancestral gifts to promote healing and bridge the gap for Africans across the diaspora. Her dedication lies in using her unique heritage to facilitate connections and foster understanding within the global African community.

At the heart of Chanel's work is "Joie" — a guiding principle of joy that she brings to every aspect of her service. Through her multifaceted career, Chanel not only aims to effect tangible improvements in maternal and infant health care but also to infuse every space she enters with an infectious optimism and a spirit of resilience. Above all, Chanel cherishes her role as a mother to three empowered sons, which remains her most profound source of inspiration.
